The RA SOLAR project consisted in the completion of the 32MW solar power plant located in the Ben Ban complex, in the middle of the Egyptian desert, at 50km away from the city of Aswan (Upper-Egypt).
Since the start of the work on site, until the achievement of commercial to operation date of the PV plant, in October 2019, the constructions stage would have lasted approximately ten months. It includes the laying of 300km of mostly underground electrical cables, the installation of more than 1000 solar trackers and nearly 100 000 PV modules spread over 60 000 m2.
Voltalia’s project is part of the national plan aiming at developing 4.3 GW of renewable capacity, including 2 GW of solar PV. Voltalia will thus contribute to the achievement of Egypt’s national targets set under the 2015 Paris agreement.
