overview

The RA SOLAR project is a 32MW solar power plant located in the Ben Ban complex in the middle of the Egyptian desert, 50km away from the city of Aswan (Upper-Egypt).

From the start of the work on the site until achieving commercial operation of the PV plant in October 2019, the construction stage have lasted approximately ten months. It included laying 300km of mostly underground electrical cables, installing more than 1000 solar trackers and nearly 100 000 PV modules spread over 60 000 m2.

Voltalia’s project is part of Egypt’s national plan to develop 4.3 GW of renewable capacity, including 2 GW of solar PV. Voltalia will thus contribute to the achievement of Egypt’s national targets set by the 2015 Paris Agreement.
